When to go: the best period is the dry season, however safari tours are arranged at any time of the year.
With Budongo forest in the South, the Rift Valley escarpment, open savannah amidst scattered trees in the Northern part of the park, Murchison Falls National Park protects a chunk of untamed African savannah bisected by the mighty River Nile. With the mighty falls forming splendid roars as the waters gasps through the narrow gorge. Amongst the mammals you will find Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Bushbucks, Lions and a variety of bird species, hippos, crocodiles, along the river Nile banks.
DAY ONE: Top of the Murchison Falls
Leave Kampala in the morning. Drive through the famous Luwero triangle and stop over at Masindi Hotel for lunch. Drive to the park through Budongo forest on the western arm of the Great Rift Valley in time to enjoy the spectacular falls where the Nile perfects its beautiful falls creating a thunderous roar and rainbow in a plume of the spray. Evening game drive before you retire to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge with panoramic view on river Nile .
DAY TWO: Game drive in the park and launch trip along river Nile
After an early cup of coffee, transverse in the Northern part of the park for a game drive. View Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Bushbucks, Lions and a variety of bird species. Return to the lodge for breakfast and leisure at the swimming pool. After lunch, proceed for a two-hour exciting launch trip on the river Nile up to the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls where appalling water escapes from the narrow gorge. This is an opportunity to see the amazing hippos, crocodiles, water birds along the river banks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY THREE: Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest
After breakfast, go for chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest, one of the best sites for primate viewing. Have lunch in Masindi. Return to Kampala at leisure.
Optional activities: stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see Ugandan Rhinos in the wild.
